Call it opening game blues or the pressure of playing in front of the day’s largest crowd, Philippines’ campaign in the Group A Prelim Round competition at the 27th FIBA Asia Championship did cause some anxiety among the fans at the Mall of Arena on Thursday.
But as things would turn out, the hosts took charge of things when push came to shove and a nevertheless feisty performance from Saudi Arabia notwithstanding, cruised to a 78-66 win.
